Evangelistic Story

A Wiser Guy Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding? Job 12:12, NIV.

"How did you meet Capone?" Andy asked.

"My brother introduced me." Mr Moreno pursed his lips. "During the 1920s it was against the law to sell liquor. I ran bootleg whisky from Kentucky to Chicago for Capone, then I met my future wife."

"Eww, a love story. .." Andy groaned. "Not quite. My wife was raised a Christian but rebelled and ran away to the city. That's where I met her. We were living what I thought was `the good life,' until the massacre."

Andy's eyes glistened with excitement. "Go on. .."

"On the morning of the massacre, I had to park a block away. As I climbed out of Capone's car specially designed to carry whiskey, I heard the machine guns and knew what was happening. So I left the car parked beside the street and hurried home to my wife. We packed a few things and hopped a train for Oregon."

"Why?"

"I knew that if I stayed with Capone, I'd probably be killed sooner or later."

"Wow!"

"In Oregon I got smart. I joined up with a different Boss, not a crime lord who stole from, killed, or maimed people, but One who died so I could live. Al Capone would never have given his life for me." The man nodded. "I've been a 'wise guy' for Christ ever since. And I've never been sorry!"
